Verification Policy
What each OnCampusDaily verification level actually checks — and, just as importantly, what it does not guarantee.
1. What verification is — and is not
Verification on OnCampusDaily means we completed the specific procedure described for that level. It is not a guarantee, warranty, endorsement, or certification of competence, honesty, product quality, service quality, event quality, or future conduct. A verified user can still act in bad faith, and an unverified user is not automatically untrustworthy. Use verification as one signal among several — read listings carefully, check reviews, and use the reporting tools described in the Content Moderation, Reporting & Takedown Policy if something looks wrong.
2. Level 0 — Basic Account
Created by registering with an email address and accepting the Terms of Service and Privacy & Data Protection Policy. No further check has been performed at this level. A Level 0 account can browse, message (subject to the Community Guidelines), and use most discovery features, but cannot access seller, service-provider, organizer, or advertiser features that require a higher level.
3. Level 1 — Student Verified
Confirms that the account holder submitted student information (registered name, department, level, course of study, and study mode) that was reviewed and approved — either automatically via a recognized student email domain, or manually by the relevant department's Course Representative or a platform moderator. This confirms the submitted student information was reviewed and accepted; it does not independently verify every detail beyond what the reviewer checked, and it is not proof of good conduct.
4. Level 2 — Identity/KYC Verified
Confirms that the account holder submitted identity information or a document for manual review, and that review was approved. This is a higher bar than Level 1 but still means only that the identity check was completed — it is not a background check, a criminal-record check, or a guarantee of the person's future behavior.
5. Level 3 — Trusted Seller
An additional trust badge that may be granted based on a track record on the Platform (for example, a sustained history of completed marketplace transactions without substantiated complaints). It reflects platform history, not an independent audit of the seller's goods or conduct going forward, and can be revoked if that history changes.
6. Level 4 — Institutional Verification
Institutional verification (a genuine, express partnership or verified relationship with a university or other institution, as described in the Independent Platform Notice) is a future capability and is not currently a live feature of the Platform. This policy will be updated, and any such relationship will be identified specifically, if and when it is introduced — it will never be implied by a university simply appearing in the Platform's data.
7. What we check, and what we don't
Each level above checks exactly what is described for it, and nothing more. We do not verify: the ongoing legality of a seller's goods after listing; the ongoing quality of a service provider's work; an event organizer's ability to safely run a specific venue or event; or a program provider's ability to deliver a course. Those are the responsibility of the party providing them, as set out in the applicable Specialized Agreement.
8. Losing a verification level
A verification level or trust badge can be downgraded or removed if the underlying information is later found to be false, if the account is found to have violated the Community Guidelines or a Specialized Agreement, or as part of a moderation action described in the Content Moderation, Reporting & Takedown Policy.
